HAIKOU, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- The 2nd World New Energy Vehicle Congress (WNEVC 2020) commenced on Sunday in Haikou, capital of south China's Hainan Province, focusing on sustainable, healthy, intelligent and integrated development of the new energy vehicle (NEV) industry.
Themed "Join hands in tiding over difficulties, cross-sector integration, and win-win cooperation," the four-day event, with Germany as Guest of Honor, will feature two plenary meetings, thematic summits, and two forums on Sino-German cooperation of NEVs, as well as cross-sector collaboration for vehicle electrification and medium- and long-term development.
Five online summits were held on the first day of this year's WNEVC, with experts and industry leaders from home and abroad discussing various topics on cutting-edge technologies related to the NEV industry, including hydrogen storage, software, power exchanges and big data applications.
The first session of WNEVC was held last July in Hainan's Bo'ao, with more than 1,500 entrepreneurs, experts, scholars, and government representatives, as well as over 100 NEV-related enterprises across the world in attendance.
The WNEVC 2020 is jointly hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Hainan provincial government, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the State Administration for Market Regulation, and co-organized by the German Association of the Automotive Industry.
