BEIJING,Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- China's fixed-asset investment (FAI) in transport industry surged 16.8 percent year on year to 329.8 billion yuan (about 48.35 billion U.S. dollars) in August, registering positive growth for five consecutive months, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News reported on Friday.
In the January- August period, total FAI in the sector amounted to nearly 2.13 trillion yuan (about 312 billion U.S. dollars), up 10.5 percent year on year, according to the Ministry of Transport.
By the end of August, the 232 renewed transportation projects monitored by the ministry had all resumed work.
Besides, construction on 13 out of 36 new projects in the sector has started by the end of August.
