BEIJING, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- China's cyber security industry has achieved a rapid growth in 2019 with better development environment, according to the China's Cyber Security Industry White Paper (2020) released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) in a forum held on Wednesday.
According to the statistics of CAICT, the scale of China's cyber security industry increased 17.1 percent to 156.359 billion yuan in 2019, and is expected to reach about 170.2 billion yuan in 2020, said Wang Zhiqin, vice president of the CAICT.
However, the scale of global cyber security industry has slowed down, which stood at 124.401 billion U.S. dollars in 2019, registering a year-on-year growth of 9.11 percent and marking the lowest since 2014. However, the financing and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) of global cyber security industry have continued to be booming, with 419 financing activities and 188 M&A activities in 2019, involving 8.9 billion and 27.6 billion dollars respectively.
The white paper focuses on the comprehensivie situation of China's cyber security industry, analyzes the current situation by taking into account the impact of the COVID-19, and envisions its prospect in the future. (Edited by Deng Lihao, Zhang Yuan with Xinhua Silk Road, zhangyuan11@xinhua.org)
