BEIJING, Sep. 14 (Xinhua) -- China sees thriving robot industry with wide application and strong demand of robots, reported Economic Information Daily Monday.
Depending on big data, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and other core technologies, the application scenarios for industrial robots are increasingly rich in China. Robots are used in aerospace, steel, automobile, construction machinery and other production lines, significantly improving the production efficiency.
Against this backdrop, many regions in China have accelerated the development of industrial robots.
It's learned that in recent years, the intelligent technology industry of the Binhai New Area in north China's Tianjin Municipality has developed vigorously, taking up 30-odd percent of the industry in the area, with multiple industrial chains like intelligent security, big data, advanced communication, intelligent connected vehicle, industrial robot and intelligent terminal taking shape.
In east China's Anhui Province, robots have been well applied in automobile, construction machinery, home appliances, building materials, agricultural machinery, chemical, casting, metallurgy, electronic information, food processing and other industries.
Currently, there are 342 robot-related enterprises in the Province each realizing an annual operating revenue of more than 10 million yuan.
The accelerating population aging and the rising labor costs in China have stimulated the demands for robots.
Data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed that China's output of industrial robots reached 93,794 sets in the first half of 2020, up 10.3 percent year on year, and the output in July was 21,170 sets, up 19.4 percent year on year.
Although the domestic market has great potential in the long run, China's industrial robot sector mainly concentrates in the middle and back ends, and the overall localization rate of China's industrial robot market is still low. China still has a long way to go in the localization of the three key components of industrial robots, namely the reducer, the controller and the servo system.
With the speedy penetration of industrial robots into the mid- and low-end fields, domestic enterprises with advantages in the mid- and low-end application areas will usher in development opportunities, believed Wanlian Securities based in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province.
Efforts should be made to intensify independent research, development and innovation, and introduce and cultivate related talents to boost the development of China's robot industry, suggested industry insiders. (Edited by Gu Shanshan with Xinhua Silk Road, gushanshan.1987@163.com)
