BEIJING, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- China's coke output increased 0.3 percent on year to 39.97 million tonnes in July, marking the first positive year-on-year growth on a monthly basis this year, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Wednesday.
From January to July, the accumulative output of coke in China came to 268.95 million tonnes, down 2.0 percent year on year.
Viewing from regions, north China's Shanxi Province witnessed its coke output reach 60.29 million tonnes in the first seven months of the year, up 3.7 percent year on year. The coke output in north China's Hebei Province dropped 5.6 percent on year to 28.24 million tonnes. Northwest China's Shaanxi Province saw the coke output decline 2.7 percent on year to 26.19 million tonnes.
The top five coke producing provinces in China produced 158 million tonnes of coke during the first seven months of the year, accounting for 58.8 percent of the country's total output. (Edited by Deng Lihao, Zhang Yuan with Xinhua Silk Road, zhangyuan11@xinhua.org)
