BEIJING, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- China had overtaken the Republic of Korea and the United States in 2019 and become the largest e-sports market around the globe, said the global auditing and consulting firm PwC in a report.
According to the report on the outlook of the global entertainment and media industry, the compound annual growth rate of China's e-sports market in the next five years will reach 14.4 percent, and the revenue will hit 670 million U.S. dollars by 2024.
Sponsorship income and media copyright income will become the main driving force for the growth of China's e-sports market, said the report.
China's e-sports industry has grown rapidly in recent years, said PwC partner Mo Bin, adding that the country has successfully held multiple large e-sports competitions in Shanghai, Chengdu and other cities, reflecting the continuous growth of its core audience, and China will continue to be the world's largest e-sports market.
