MILAN, Sept. 7 (Class Editori) – "Everything goes very well in Japan, which accounts for about 25% of sales for us; we have even recorded positive results compared to last year and in China, where we are equal to last year. We are surely suffering a bit in Europe and America". Renzo Rosso, OTB and Diesel brand owner, is optimistic on the fast fashion market stability.
"Globally, we are coming up better than what we thought, because we are under 20% and I am talking about the end-of-year expectations. However, I generally think that we might do even better".
In the last financial year, OTB group exceeded €1.5 billion of revenues, growing by 6.4%.
Question: In Asia, does the revenge spending work? Will it make new investments?
Answer: In these countries, everything has a positive sign. We are looking for new openings, we are thinking about new contracts and I will surprise you with special effects related to something we are improving in the Shanghai area. We are making operations directly on China.
Q. Which values has Diesel growth reached in the online channel?
A. Only in August, we reached peaks increasing by 50%. Surely, this figure comes from an incredible job of the CRM-Customer relationship management. So, the most positive aspect of what is happening is that we are deepening our relations with the end-consumer.
Q. Which impact had e-commerce on total sales?
A. Just through the direct channel we reach an amount of 15.5% with Diesel; however, if we add Zalando, Luisaviaroma and the online channels, Diesel sales in this moment exceed 30% of the total. We have worked really well on this segment.
Q. Can antibacterial fabrics play a role in the fashion sector in the future?
A. Certainly yes, we are going on with research and development. The clothing we got from our warehouses and then washed with antibacterial products were almost sold-out, therefore we are working really hard on the fabrics processing. And we have focused on many new concepts in this direction also for the new collections which are almost out.
Q. How is Made in Italy reacting? At the end of the lockdown, the focus was on supporting the satellite activities of the fashion system…
A. The Government has not paid the wages guarantee fund yet, at least in our companies. All this integrated chain, that we are financing. Since we are a well-established company, we can afford to pay all these structures in advance and keep them alive. Because, if we do not keep them alive, what can their destiny be? Once they are closed, they do not reopen anymore.
Q. If everything goes as expected, September 2021 could be the date marking the beginning of a new chapter?
A. I hope so, I really hope so. Potentially, when the real opening will take place, and we think in a year, our group should be stronger because it kept a structure alive: a structure that, even though it is not its own, it is like it were. (All rights reserved)
