BEIJING, Sept.7 (Xinhua) -- China's semiconductor industry is developing at full speed thanks to the supportive policy on the integrated circuits (IC) industry and the software industry unveiled in early August, reported Securities Daily Sunday.
The policy covers finance and taxation, investment and financing, research and development, import and export, talents, intellectual property, market application and international cooperation. It clarifies that China's chip self-sufficiency rate should reach 70 percent by 2025.
In response to the policy, local governments are speeding up the formulation and implementation of specific supporting policies.
Nanjing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Zhuhai among others have disclosed their intention to develop road maps for the high-quality development of IC at a faster speed. New funds have also been injected into areas like semiconductor raw materials, equipment, design, manufacturing, packaging and testing.
Driven by related policies, China's IC industry and software industry have achieved rapid development, said Ding Shaojiang, founder of dingkeji.com, a Chinese internet media platform.
Data showed that in the first half of 2020, the sales of China's IC industry exceeded 350 billion yuan, up more than 15 percent year on year, he noted, adding that it could be expected that the policy would further optimize the development environment and improve the innovation capabilities and development quality of the industries.
According to data from the China Semiconductor Industry Association (CSIA), China's IC market sales is expected to exceed one trillion yuan for the first time by 2021.
Chinese enterprises have also strengthened their layouts in semiconductor and related industry chain.
The policy has opened up a green channel for financing the IC industry and software industry by encouraging fundraising of various modes, said Ma Daojie, chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Unigroup Guoxin Microelectronics Co., Ltd. (002049 SZ.), a Chinese semiconductor company.
He noted that Unigroup Guoxin Microelectronics Co., Ltd. would focus on digital security, high-reliability chips, high-end chip components and other core chip areas.
Many home appliance enterprises are also expanding cross-border layout of the semiconductor industry. Chinese home appliance giants like Gree Electric Appliances (000651 SZ.), Konka (000016 SZ.), Changhong (600839 SH.) and TCL (000100 SZ.) have moved into the semiconductor chip market.
According to Konka, Hefei KONSEMI Storage Technology Co., Ltd., a semiconductor company affiliated to it, has realized mass production of its first memory master chip, and the sales of the master chips is likely to reach 100 million in 2020.
