BEIJING, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Local authorities in China recently unveiled a series of policies to promote development of strategic emerging industries, with focus on 5G, intelligent equipment and big data.
East China's Jiangsu province has allocated nearly 700 million yuan of special funds to support 41 key projects of strategic emerging industries.
South China's Guangdong province has intensified policy support to carry forward development of emerging industries such as biomedicine, artificial intelligence and digital economy, based on the clear layout specified in May of ten strategic emerging industry clusters for semiconductor, integrated circuit, high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy and other fields.
With the support of policies, remarkable outcomes have been yielded in the development of strategic emerging industries since the start of this year.
In the first seven months, east China's Anhui province saw the output value of its major emerging industry bases rose 8.3 percent year on year.
In the first half, the tech hub Shenzhen's new generation of information technology, digital economy, biomedicine, high-end equipment and other strategic emerging industries achieved an added value of nearly 450 billion yuan. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, sudan@xinhua.org)
