BEIJING, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- China Economic Information Service (CEIS) of Xinhua News Agency signed an agreement with Luoyang Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Administration recently to co-develop an index reflecting the cultural and tourism integrated development of Luoyang, a city in central China's Henan Province.
As the first of its kind in China, the index will construct an evaluation system in a comprehensive and multi-dimensional manner to scientifically quantify the level of integration of Luoyang's cultural and tourism industry.
The index can scientifically, comprehensively and effectively guide the development of Luoyang's cultural and tourism integration, said Fan Yezheng, an associate professor of Beijing International Studies University, adding that Luoyang has unique advantages and rich experience in exploring the path of cultural and tourism integration, which can be a good reference for other places to promote cultural and tourism integration.
By adopting innovative ideas and strengthening the practice of integration development, Luoyang has shown strong development momentum in cultural and tourism integration development.
Data show that Luoyang received 142 million domestic and foreign tourists in 2019, with a year-on-year increase of 7.33 percent, realizing a total tourism revenue of 132.1 billion yuan, up 15.03 percent year on year.
The index will officially make debut at the 39th Luoyang Peony Flower Festival in 2021. (Edited by Gao Jingyan with Xinhua Silk Road, gaojingyan@xinhua.org)
