BEIJING, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- The China-Europe freight trains' imported freight volume through the Alataw Pass in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has reached 1.1061 million tons by August 26, according to the local customs.
In the meantime, a total of 2.1169 million tons of cargo were transported through the pass.
This year, the number of China-Europe freight trains through Alataw Pass has picked up significantly during the April to July period. As of August 26, import and export volume through the pass accounting for 97.5 percent of last year's total, according to an official with the customs at the Alataw Pass.
Imported vehicles, baby food, industrial raw materials and equipment, household appliances and other commodities have been delivered to 13 Chinese cities such as Xi'an, Chongqing, Chengdu and Zhengzhou.
It is noted that the customs of Alataw Pass have handled a total of 3,018 of China-Europe freight trains by August 26, an increase of 41 percent year on year.
