BEIJING, July 30 (Xinhua) -- China saw more than 8,800 new enterprises in rail transit sector established in the first half, a surge of 102 percent over the same period of last year, according to data from database query platform Tianyancha.com.
Among the newly established enterprises, 1500 or 17.03 percent were based in east China's Jiangsu province, making it top other provinces and regions in terms of the number of new rail transit enterprises in the first six months. Transportation industry, particularly smart transportation sector, is gaining impetus from China's construction of new infrastructure.
Li Xiaopeng, Minister of Transport, said earlier that transportation industry should be the main force in the application of new equipment, new infrastructure, and new formats. He pointed out that the Ministry of Transport will strive to build new infrastructure application scenarios, and promote the integrated development of transportation infrastructure network, transportation service network, energy network and information network in a bid to build China's strength in transportation.
In 2020, 800 billion yuan of investment will be made in railway projects, 1.8 trillion yuan in roads and waterway projects, and 90 billion yuan in civil aviation projects, according to Li. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, silivasu07@163.com)
