BEIJING, July 24 (Xinhua) -- More than 4.5 million units of new energy vehicles (NEV) have been sold in China, accounting for over 50 percent of the world's total, Xin Guobin, vice minister of industry and information technology told a press briefing on Thursday.
Xin said that China has remained the world's largest NEV market, with its production and sales of NEVs ranking first in the world for five consecutive years.
China's NEV technologies have been upgraded. So far, the driving range of mainstream NEVs in the country is more than 400 kilometers, and the energy density of single power battery reaches 250 wh/kg.
The whole industrial development system has also been gradually improved, with upstream and downstream links of the industrial chains including basic materials, batteries, motors, vehicles, electronic control, and production equipment being connected.
In addition, supporting facilities are being optimized. So far, China has built 38,000 charging stations, 449 battery swap stations and 1.3 million charging piles.
