China's ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing delivers a speech at the webnar on new opportunities and challenges of China-Pakistan bilateral cooperation in the post-epidemic era
BEIJING, July 23 (Xinhua) -- The joint cooperation between China and Pakistan will bring more opportunities for the construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), said China's ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing at a webinar held on Wednesday.
The webinar focused on new opportunities and challenges of China-Pakistan bilateral cooperation in the post-epidemic era, aiming to deepen the friendly bilateral cooperation and make it the best practice of Belt and Road construction.
Despite the challenges posted by the COVID-19 pandemic, "thanks to the close cooperation between the two sides, all the projects and all the Chinese companies under the CPEC are keep moving," said Yao, adding that there is no single local labors who are laid off, nor any suspension or stop of the projects.
Yao said that China has coordinated the epidemic prevention and control with economic and social development. The economic bounce in the second quarter will contribute to the CPEC construction in the future.
China will work with Pakistan to further promote the high-quality construction of the corridor and provide great assistance for Pakistan to overcome the epidemic and resume the economy, added Yao.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, China and Pakistan have conducted effective and courageous cooperation.
"All Pakistani society and people have expressed their sincere solidarity and support for the Chinese government to fight against the coronovirus, while the Chinese government, within its capacity, has also provided various kinds of assistance for the Pakistani side," noted Yao.
Under the Guidance of Silk Road Think Tank Association, the webinar was co-hosted by China Center for Contemporary World Studies, National Institute of International Strategy of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), "Belt and Road" Initiative International Think Tank of CASS, Sustainable Development Policy Institute, and Research and Development International, and undertaken by Pakistan-China Institute, with Xinhua Silk Road of China Economic Information Service, China Daily, China Economic Net and China.org.cn providing media support.
