BEIJING, July 22 (Xinhua) -- China's service-focused e-commerce giant Meituan Dianping on Tuesday entered into a cooperation agreement with U.S.-based multinational non-alcoholic beverage giant Coca-Cola to jointly explore new models of digital business, the Xinhua-run China Securities Journal reported on Tuesday.
Over the past few years, the two parties have conducted in-depth exploration in multiple fields, such as online and offline integrated marketing, offline channel management, and big data analysis and applications, said Chen Ruijie, general manager of the commercial department with Meituan Dianping, adding that the two sides will work together to further deepen cooperation in the future in an attempt to provide consumers with better quality dining experience.
This cooperation will promote Coca-Cola to accelerate its digital transformation, push forward its consumption scenario layouts and bring consumers more convenient and better consumption experience, said Yang Manman, media and digital marketing director of Coca-Cola China.
Meituan Dianping saw its revenue decline in the first quarter of 2020 amid the COVID-19 outbreak. The e-commerce giant's operating revenue fell 12.6 percent year on year to 16.8 billion yuan (around 2.36 billion U.S. dollars), registering 216 million-yuan net loss.
