BEIJING, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region received a total of 15.58 million domestic tourists in the first half of 2020, generating revenue of 8.08 billion yuan which are nearly 78 percent and 53 percent that of the same period last year respectively, relevant statistics shows.
In the first half of this year, Department of Culture and Tourism of Ningxia Hui autonomous region has continuously guided and regulated the construction of rural tourism in the region.
Ningxia promoted scenic spots and cultural tourism companies to offer assistance for rural areas and drive the rural development. The first batch of 16 cultural and tourism companies and 16 poverty alleviation listed supervising villages (communities) have officially paired to promote the rural development.
In addition, Department of Culture and Tourism of Ningxia successively carried out a series of combination activities including tourism with sports, intangible cultural heritage, performing arts and others, which have enriched tourism consumption projects in the scenic spots and has been widely praised by tourists.
In the first half of this year, the region's A-level scenic spots received 5.25 million tourists and realized revenue of 177 million yuan.
Ningxia also insisted on tourism marketing and promotion, and organized tourism companies to actively connect with travel agencies to create characteristic tourism products to adapt to changes in market demand. Up to now, Ningxia has established cooperation with media, travel agents, airlines, and insurance companies in key source markets such as Sichuan and Chongqing, the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei.
