BEIJING, July 17 (Xinhua) -- China will step up efforts to foster characteristic industrial clusters in rural areas, thus laying a solid foundation for rural revitalization, according to a national plan on rural industry development for 2020 to 2025 issued on Thursday.
During the 2020 to 2025 period, the country will develop a batch of competitive characteristic industrial clusters with output value of more than 10 billion yuan and leading characteristic industrial clusters with output value of more than 100 billion yuan in rural areas, and build a number of agriculture-featured towns and townships with output value of over one billion yuan, said the plan released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
The plan demanded efforts to boost agricultural product processing sector and increase new service types in rural areas. Specifically, China's agricultural product processing industry should generate 32 trillion yuan of income in 2025, and its online sales of agricultural products should hit one trillion yuan in the same year.
E-commerce in rural areas will gain impetus. Enterprises and institutions engaged in e-commerce, logistics, trade, finance, supply and marketing, postal service and express delivery will be guided to invest in building rural online shopping networks, according to the plan.
