BEIJING, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Southwest China's Guizhou Province has completed a total of 52.63 billion yuan in highway and waterway investment in the first half of this year, an increase of 0.6 percent year-on-year, according to a video meeting held by local authorities.
In the first half of the year, the province's highways and waterways investment accounts for 84.5 percent of the province's road network investment. Among them, expressways investment reached 36.1 billion yuan, an increase of 11.8 percent year-on-year, waterways investment totaled 490 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.1 percent.
Transportation infrastructure construction plays a key role in stabilizing investment, securing employment, and expanding domestic demand, it is also an important measure to hedge the impact of the epidemic.
