GUANGZHOU, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Guangzhou Port Group Tuesday announced it has launched a new shipping route to South Korea and opened the new era of direct shipping to the country, to better facilitate Guangzhou's exports of steel and home appliance to South Korea.
Up until now, the number of container freight lines from Guangzhou Port has reached 163 and 119 of them are for foreign trade, with most destinations are in Africa and Southeast Asia.
In the first half of 2020, Guangzhou Port Group grabbed the opportunity coming along with the rapid development of ASEAN countries and opened four new shipping routes to Southeast Asia, which has benefited fruits and rubble imports. Moreover, it also launched a new shipping line to Canada.
Guangzhou Port is the largest container shipping hub in China's domestic trade. The group said as orders in the Pearl River Delta has gradually rose towards the mid of the year, domestic shipping companies have expanded the number of freight lines and capacities, and the port's container throughput for June is expected to show a fair growth.
