BEIJING, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Southwest China's Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality on Monday inked an energy cooperation agreement to jointly build a high-quality energy development demonstration zone, reported Sichuan Daily Wednesday.
According to the agreement, efforts will be made to accelerate the construction of the energy operation guarantee system, promote the optimal allocation of energy resources, and improve the energy production and supply capacity of the two places.
The cooperation will cover nine kinds of energy resources including natural gas and coal.
Sichuan and Chongqing have solid foundation and broader space for electricity cooperation as they are both connected to the power gird in southwestern China.
The two places had signed inter-provincial electricity mutual aid agreement every year from 2017 to 2019 to support power companies of the two places to carry out power transactions such as power generation rights trading, the replacement of thermal power with hydropower, etc.
Over the past three years, the inter-provincial power delivery between Sichuan and Chongqing totaled 9.7 billion kWh.
In January this year, the two places also signed an agreement on the inter-provincial delivery of 5 billion kWh of electricity. (Edited by Gu Shanshan with Xinhua Silk Road, gushanshan.1987@163.com)
