BEIJING, June 29 (Xinhua) -- China's consumption affected by the COVID-19 pandemic received a faster recovery during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday that ended last Saturday, especially in the tourism, transport, postal and express delivery services sectors, reported Economic Information Daily Monday.
The tourism market which has been severely hit by the epidemic showed growing momentum.
Data show that during the holiday, China saw 48.809 million domestic tourist trips which had generated 12.28 billion yuan of domestic tourism income. Besides, passengers transported by means of railway, road, waterway and civil aviation is likely to hit 78.786 million, while the total highway traffic is expected to reach 92.6897 million.
The orders for customized tours, scenic spot tickets and hotel rooms during the holiday had soared by 4300 percent, 463 percent and 240 percent respectively as compared with that during the Qingming Festival holiday this year, data from the Chinese travel services and social networking platform Mafengwo show.
According to a report by the leading Chinese online travel agency Ctrip, the search demand and the ticket booking demand for domestic travel during the Dragon Boat Festival had resumed to 70 percent of that in the same period last year.Red tourism, rural tourism, ecotourism and cultural tourism boomed during the holiday, while nighttime tourism was on the rise, lighting up the holiday tour in China, noted the country's Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
At the local level, during the holiday, visitors received by central China's Henan Province recovered by 61 percent year on year to 5.7596 million, while that by key scenic spots in southwest China's Sichuan Province resumed to 57.6 percent year on year.
Online consumption kept increasing. Data from the State Post Bureau show that the courier packages collected during the holiday hiked by 45.38 percent year on year to 607 million, and those delivered surged by 47.68 percent year on year to 651 million.
Insiders pointed out that online consumption had revitalized the rural consumer market. During the holiday, various regions had cooperated with leading e-commerce platforms and live-streaming platforms.
Data from leading Chinese e-commerce platforms JD.com and Pinduoduo show that the turnover of bulk fruits, beef and mutton increased by more than 150 percent year on year during the Dragon Boat Festival. (Edited by Gu Shanshan with Xinhua Silk Road, gushanshan.1987@163.com)
