BEIJING, June 24 (Xinhua) -- China's National Energy Administration (NEA) on Monday unveiled a work guideline for the year to promote energy development as well as ensure energy security amid the COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control, reported Xinhua-run cnstock.com Monday.
The guideline mainly defines the national development goals in energy consumption, supply, quality, and efficiency, as well as reform and innovation in 2020.
Precisely, China expects to limit its total energy consumption to 5 billion tonnes of standard coal in the year, bringing the proportion of coal consumption down to about 57.5 percent.
National petroleum production is expected to reach 193 million tonnes in 2020, natural gas production of 181 billion cubic meters, while non-fossil energy generation cushion will be larger than 900 million kilowatts in the year.
The improved efficiency in the energy system and clean energy sectors are expected in 2020. At the same time, a total of about 1.5 billion square meters of clean energy heating area will be offered to residents, accompanied by 150 billion kilowatt-hours of new electricity replacement, said the guideline.
The energy sector's innovation will be embodied in the trial operation of continuous settlement in the power spot market, the separation of main and auxiliary power grids, and the promotion of energy storage and hydrogen energy technology.
