BEIJING, June 24 (Xinhua) -- East China's Jiangsu Province will start the construction of Fenghai and Tonghai 500 kV power transmission and transformation project within this year, reating a 700-kilometer ultra-high-voltage new energy channel, reported Economic Information Daily on Wednesday.
It is learned the total investment of the project is expected to reach 5.18 billion yuan and the project is scheduled to be completed and put into production by the end of 2021. After the operation, it will deliver a total of 17.3 billion kWh wind power, photovoltaic and other new energy to southern area of Jiangsu every year.
Jiangsu is rich in tidal flat resources and offshore wind energy resources, it is currently the largest offshore wind power base in China. It is estimated that by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan, total scale of new energy in Jiangsu will reach about 46 million kilowatts.
The implementation of Fenghai and Tonghai 500 kV power transmission and transformation project will lay a solid foundation for the new energy consumption in Jiangsu and provide a green guarantee for the economic and social development of southern Jiangsu, said Zhu Huan, relevant person with the State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., Ltd.
