BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Volkswagen Group Import (China) Co. and FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Co. will recall over 1,000 imported vehicles in the Chinese market due to concerns over transmission oil leakage, said China's quality watchdog.
The recall, set to begin from July 1, involves 600 imported Touareg SUVs manufactured between Sept. 19 and Oct. 9, 2019, and 620 imported Audi Q8 and A8L sedans produced between Sept. 19 and Dec. 9, 2019, according to a statement by the State Administration for Market Regulation.
Gearbox oil pipe of the affected vehicles may have been incorrectly welded, which can result in a transmission oil leakage. If the fluid leaks, there is an increased risk of accident and injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.
Volkswagen dealerships will contact affected consumers to check their vehicles and replace faulty parts free of charge, according to the statement. Enditem
