BEIJING, June 19 (Xinhua) -- The value-added industrial output of northwest China's Shaanxi Province picked up the pace in May, according to data from Shaanxi Provincial Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday.
In May, Shaanxi's value-added industrial output above designated size went up 8.6 percent year on year in May, up 2.8 percentage points from April. From January to May, itsvalue-added industrial output above designated size increased 1.4 percent year on year.
In May, the value-added output of the energy sector and automobile industry in Shaanxi increased 12 percent and 40.3 percent respectively.
Shaanxi's fixed-asset investment dipped 2.5 percent year on year in the first five months, narrowing by 4.3 percentage points from January to April, while industrial producer price fell by 4.7 percent year on year.
The data also showed improvements in other readings of economic indicators. The industrial electricity consumption picked up 5.2 percent year on year in May, and the consumer price index (CPI) went up 2.2 percent year on year, falling for the third consecutive month.
