BEIJING, June 18 (Xinhua) – Municipal government of Zhengzhou, capital city in Central China’s Henan province, has recently clinched a strategic cooperation agreement with Alibaba, China's e-commerce giant, to promote the construction of a digital city, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News reported on Wednesday.
Under the agreement, the two sides will conduct in-depth cooperation in multiple fields, such as the construction of the digital city and digital industry ecology, as well as information technology personnel training, in an attempt to actively explore the new model for the high-quality development of the digital economy in Zhengzhou.
At present, Zhengzhou is quickening its pace to build itself into a demonstration city of 5G innovation to further push forward the development of the digital economy, according to provincial governor Wang Guosheng.
Wang expressed his hope that Alibaba could continue to leverage its advantages in the areas of technology, platform, talents and capital to dig deep into the market of Henan and meanwhile increase investment in new infrastructure and emerging industries with an aim to realize higher-quality development and win-win results.
Henan has rich resources and huge potential for the development of the digital economy, said Zhang Yong, executive chairman and CEO of Alibaba, adding that Alibaba will give full play to its strengths in digitalization and deepen cooperation with Zhengzhou municipal government in the fields of digital city, digital government, e-commerce and industrial ecology, in a bid to make greater contributions to the high-quality development of the province.
