BEIJING, June 18 (Xinhua) -- China boasts vast 5G market, and it may embrace the fisrt 5G consumption boom, a positive signal for operators, terminal manufacturers and mobile phone application manufacturers, said the China Mobile Consummer Survey issued Wednesday by international consulting firm Deloitte.
According to the survey report, almost all the interviewees said they would use 5G network. Besides, the shipment of 5G mobile phones in the Chinese market has presented an explosive growth since the second half of 2019, and the building of 5G base stations is also booming.
With the improvement of the 5G netwrok coverage, the maturity of mobile phone hardwares and the drop of prices, 5G mobile phones may become the mainstream in 2020 and the Chinese market is likely to see the first 5G consumption wave, Deloitte predicted.
China has now become a leader in 5G technology, as the number of cities in the country opening 5G services is at the forefront of the world and it has started to export related technologies to developed countries or regions, which also indicates the vast potential of China's 5G market, said Lin Guoen, a partner at Deloitte China.
In terms of the IoT (Internet of Things) market, Chinese consumers' ownership of smart entertainment, smart security, samrt home and Internet of Vehicles equipment has been growing rapidly in the past three years, with the ownership of smart TVs, smart speakers and home monitoring systems hitting 70 percent, 38 percent and 37 percent, respectively, said the report. The smart entertainment equipment market has witnessed the fastest growth which attributes to the further popularity of smart TVs and the explosive development of the smart speaker market, it noted.
Facing the rapidly-growing IoT market, major manufacturers of smart IoT devices should join hands to build an open and unified IoT product ecosystem, and meanwhile strengthen the application of blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI) and other technologies in the information security sector to enhance the security performance of IoT product, suggested the report.
