BEIJING, June 17 (Xinhua) -- China's leading insurer Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd. (Ping An) has taken the top spot in the world in fintech patents by filling 1,604 patents last year, according to a report released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), reported China Securities Journal recently.
Ping An has become a bright spot on the ranking, with its subsidiaries accounting for half of the top 10. Ping An Technology and Ping An's fintech arm One Connect entered the top three, while Ping An Life Insurance, Ping An Property Insurance and Ping An HealthKonnect entered the top 10 ranking.
As one of the largest financial services companies in the world, Ping An has deepen its "finance technology" and "finance ecosystem" strategies in recent years, aiming to provide customers and internet users with innovative products and services using technology.
According to the report, a total of 3,909 enterprises from 33 countries filed 14,706 fintech patents by the end of 2019. Among them, 48 enterprises came from China, covering traditional finance, fintech, internet, e-commerce, technology and telecommunications.
