S. China's Guangdong sees marine output value exceed RMB2.1 trln in 2019

Abstract : South China’s Guangdong Province saw its marine industry record an output value of 2.11 trillion yuan in 2019, up 9.0 percent on year and accounting for 23.6 percent of the country's total marine output value, according to a report released by the province on Monday.

GUANGZHOU, June 9 (Xinhua) -- South China’s Guangdong Province saw its marine industry record an output value of 2.11 trillion yuan in 2019, up 9.0 percent on year and accounting for 23.6 percent of the country's total marine output value, according to a report released by the province on Monday.

Guangdong has become one of the core regions of China's marine economy, said an official with the Department of Natural Resources of Guangdong Province.

Marine economy has provided a firmer support for the high-quality development of Guangdong, noted Qu Jiashu, deputy director of the provincial Department of Natural Resources.

The report shows that Guangdong's marine economic growth has contributed 22.4 percent to the provincial economic growth in 2019.

In terms of the industry structure, the proportion of tertiary industry in Guangdong's marine economy increased by 0.5 percentage point year on year in 2019.

The added value of marine tourism and marine transportation reached 358.1 billion yuan and 73.7 billion yuan respectively in 2019.

According to the report, emerging industrial clusters, such as high-end marine equipment manufacturing and offshore wind power, have already taken shape, with the natural gas hydrate exploration and experimental testing technology reaching international advanced level.
