SHIJIAZHUANG, June 2 (Xinhua) -- The northern Chinese province of Hebei witnessed a 5.9 percent year-on-year growth in trade with Belt and Road (B&R) countries from January to April, according to Shijiazhuang Customs.
Hebei's trade volume with B&R countries reached 36.39 billion yuan during the period. Among them, its imports and exports reached 10.22 billion yuan and 26.17 billion yuan respectively, up 26.4 percent and down 0.5 percent year on year.
In April alone, Hebei's trade volume with B&R countries totaled 9.47 billion yuan, down 4.8 percent year on year.
The 11 countries of Southeast Asia became Hebei's largest trading partners among B&R countries and regions in April, with the total trade amounting to 4.13 billion yuan, up 45 percent year on year.
Mechanical and electrical products, textile and medical materials topped the list of export commodities of Hebei in April, with their export volume hitting 2.34 billion yuan, 460 million yuan, and 340 million yuan, respectively.
