BEIJING, May 27 (Xinhua) -- The Export-Import Bank of China (CEXIM) and the Ministry of Finance of Ghana recently signed an agreement on using loans from CEXIM to finance the construction of a rural communication and digital network coverage project in Ghana.
The project will help bring more Ghanaian individuals, families and organizations into the digital world.
Under the agreement, a mobile communication network system will be built in the rural areas of Ghana covering 172 regions in 9 provinces, together with the construction of modules of wireless, transmission and core networks and their supporting hardware and software facilities.
Upon completion of the project, the coverage of and accessibility to mobile communication networks will be enhanced in the rural areas of Ghana so that local rural residents can enjoy better communication services as urban dwellers of the country.
Since beginning to operate in Ghana in 1998, CEXIM has given financing support to a number of major local projects in the fields of power, water supply, communications, education, etc., greatly improving local infrastructure and promoting local economic and social development.
