BEIJING, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Asia's largest hangar has started operations, serving the aircraft base maintenance line at Beijing Daxing International Airport, according to China Southern Airlines (China Southern).
Starting operations at the new base maintenance hangar represented a major move forward in business resumption, said China Southern.
The base maintenance line is in the joint hands of the airline and Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Company Limited (GAMECO).
It is located in China Southern's No. 1 hangar at Daxing airport. The hangar covers an area of around 40,000 square meters, and includes a maintenance hangar hall and a four-story attached building.
Topping all hangars in Asia, the hangar has space for three wide-body airplanes and three narrow-body airplanes. It is capable of simultaneously conducting base maintenance works on 12 airplanes, which include two A380 and three B777 wide-body aircraft.
The hangar is capable of meeting various maintenance requirements on diversified airplane models, said China Southern. Enditem
