NANJING, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Jiangsu Province, one of the largest export-oriented provinces in China, registered the first positive monthly growth of foreign trade in April since the beginning of 2020.
Data from Nanjing customs show that the Jiangsu's foreign trade value reached 366.28 billion yuan, rising 11 percent on year and 7.6 percent on month.
In the first four months of the year, Jiansu's foreign trade volume arrived at 1.267 trillion yuan, 4.4 percent down from a year ago, a decrease 5.1 percentage points less than that in the first quarter.
Among them, its export volume fell 6.9 percent to 752.75 billion yuan and its import dipped 0.4 percent to 514.37 billion yuan in the first four months. The declines narrowed 8 percentage points and 0.1 percentage point, respectively.
In April alone, Jiangsu's export value grew 19.1 percent on year to 226.79 billion yuan and its import decreased slightly by 0.1 percent from a year earlier to 139.49 billion yuan.
Jabil Circuit (Wuxi) Co., Ltd., a supplier of manufacturing services in the computing and storage, networking and telecommunications industries, received an increasing number of overseas orders and has just gained an order of network switches with a value of 200 million U.S. dollars recently, said an executive of the firm.
As a company which started to explore the international market in 2019, Huatian Technology (Kunshan) Electronics Co., Ltd. carried out a new integrated circuit project with an investment of 906 million yuan, helping increase its production capacity by 60 percent compared to the previous year, according to its chief financial officer Li Guangzhi.
Zhou Changqing, vice director of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce, said although the external demand has shrank, Jiangsu government has been working together with enterprises to find orders, explore market and secure supplying to go through hard times.
