BEIJING, May 10 (Xinhua) -- China's lottery sales slumped to 10.51 billion yuan (about 1.48 billion U.S. dollars) in March, data from the Ministry of Finance showed.
The amount shrank 69.9 percent year on year due to the impact of COVID-19, said the ministry.
In breakdown, sales of welfare lottery tickets went down 68.7 percent year on year to 5.18 billion yuan, while sports lottery sales dropped 71 percent to 5.33 billion yuan.
Under China's lottery management rules, money from lottery ticket sales is used for administrative expenses, public welfare projects and prize money. Enditem
