BEIJING, April 27 (Xinhua) -- China's fast-growing online group discounter Pinduoduo reported a net loss attributable to ordinary shareholders of 6.968 billion yuan in 2019, compared to 10.298 billion yuan in the previous year, China Securities Journal reported on Sunday.
The total revenue of the e-commerce platform reached 30.14 billion yuan in 2019, up 129.7 percent year on year.
Its gross merchandise volume last year amounted to 1.01 trillion yuan.
The platform saw active buyers reach 585.2 million in 2019, with annual spending per active buyer surging by 53 percent to 1,720.1 yuan.
Founded in 2015, Pinduoduo is known for offering bulk purchase deals with big discounts and enjoys a huge consumer base in rural areas and small cities. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
