BEIJING, April 22 (Xinhua) -- China's economic powerhouse province of Guangdong has strived to firmly grasp opportunities from the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in an attempt to build a new pattern of high-level opening up nationwide.
At present, Guangdong is stepping up its efforts to further strengthen the connection of technological innovation and the professional services of Hong Kong and Macao to jointly explore the international market and strongly support the Belt and Road (B&R) construction.
The province saw its trade with the B&R countries reach 1.71 trillion yuan in 2019, up 6.3 percent year on year.
In addition, the province is working to substantially widen market access for foreign investment and create a more attractive environment for foreign investment.
Last year, the province reported a regional GDP of more than 10 trillion yuan last year, accounting for ten percent of the country's total GDP. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifna@xinhua.org)
