InfoQuest (April 8, 2020) -- According to the Aviation Industry Promotion agency of the Aviation Economic Division of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), the number of foreign tourist arrivals in the first quarter of 2020 was 15.67 million, down 8.54 million from the same period last year, or 35.3 percent.
The top 15 countries of origin accounted for 78.1 percent of Thailand's international travelers.
The number of Chinese tourists ranked first in the overall number of visitors to Thailand, yet Thailand saw a year-on-year decline of Chinese tourists from 5,979,138 to 2,429,918, down 59.4 percent. Then came Japan. The number of Japanese tourists dropped from 5,979,138 to 2,429,918, down 59.4 percent. And the number of visitors from Russia, Singapore, India and the Republic of Korea decreased from 1,166,393 to 1,159,257 (-0.6 percent), from 1,479,779 to 932,262 (-37.0 percent), from 1,204,968 to 800,506 (-33.6 percent), and from 1,375,339 to 767,442 (-44.2 percent), respectively.
