BEIJING, April 3 (Xinhua) -- More than 200 foundations in Beijing have raised about 1.2 billion yuan and over 7.2 million pieces of masks, protective clothing and other prevention materials in total for the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, according to a report by The Beijing News on Thursday.
According to the report, Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau recently announced that the total amount of money raised by charity organizations in Beijing is among the highest in China. Among them, Beijing-Hubei Enterprise Chamber of Commerce has raised 200 million yuan and donated 70 million yuan prevention materials.
At the same time, different social organizations in Beijing has made use of their professional expertise to participate in the prevention and control of the epidemic in various ways, providing medical consultation, mental health guidance, cultural activities, care for the disabled and legal services to residents in Beijing.
It is also reported that more than 2,300 voluntary agencies and community social organizations in Beijing have participated in the prevention and control work of the epidemic which includes community personnel investigation, logistical support, and other services and assistance, becoming an important force in community-based epidemic prevention.
