InfoQuest (April 01, 2020) - The Covid-19 epidemic has caused panic in many countries and affected economy, society, lifestyle, health and other aspects, revealed Mr. Chalermchai Sri-on, minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC). The agricultural sector also felt the impact. Therefore, MOAC has tasked all affiliates with formulating programs and measures to aid farmers and Thai people at large that get stuck due to the epidemic. By doing so, it hoped to reassure Thai people and let them know that MOAC is well prepared to contribute to helping Thailand get through the Covid-19 epidemic crisis.
This year 2020 marks the 128th anniversary of MOAC. Looking ahead, MOAC will renew its commitments to performing the functions of office in accordance with key agricultural development policies. To name a few, it will promote market-oriented production, plan water resources and rubber management as a whole, enhance safety in agricultural development, improve production efficiency and reduce production costs, promote sustainable fisheries management, and establish agricultural innovation and technology centers in 77 provinces, National Agricultural Big Data Center and National Anti-drought Administration Center. In the meanwhile, it will take public and national interests as the starting point, adhere to the principles of integrity, transparency and accountability and pool forces from both public and private sectors to solve problems and provide assistance to farmers all over the country and promote the sustainable development of the agricultural sector.
