BEIJING, April 1 (Xinhua) -- China's medical waste disposal capacity came up to 6,094.1 tonnes per day as of March 28, up 24.2 percent year on year from 4,902.8 tonnes per day prior to the epidemic outbreak, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) said on Tuesday.
The disposal capacity of Hubei Province, the epicenter of the outbreak, increased from 180 tonnes each day before the outbreak to 667.4 tonnes, showed the MEE data.
At present, the disposal of the medical sewage in the country is orderly and disinfection measures are strictly implemented, it said.
Environmental authorities did not find any impact of the epidemic control on the quality of the water sources, according to the MEE. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
