BEIJING, March 31 (Xinhua) -- China's service-focused e-commerce giant Meituan Dianping reported robust revenue growth in 2019 thanks to outstanding performance in its key business sectors such as food delivery, in-store purchases, hotels and travel.
Its total revenue surged 49.5 percent year on year to 97.5 billion yuan last year, the company announced Monday in its financial report.
The company’s food delivery service garnered 8.7 billion orders in 2019, with the sector’s revenue totaling 54.8 billion yuan, up 43.8 percent from the previous year.
The revenue of the in-store, hotel and travel businesses of the company amounted to 22.3 billion yuan last year, up 40.6 percent year on year.
However, the company projected negative year-on-year revenue growth and operating loss for the first quarter of 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
