InfoQuest (March 18, 2020) -- Mr. Thakon Tanthasit, secretary general of National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), revealed that today, NBTC convened all broadband Internet service providers and mobile internet service providers (mobile phone network service providers) nationwide to discuss the rules of the government's WFH policy, with implementation rules proposed including:
1. Even if WFH policy means more people will use internet, all internet service providers should ensure service quality of packages purchased by the people.
2. Service providers should be careful in system maintenance, to prevent interruption of work when WFH is affected by state policy.
3. In terms of the communication cable arrangement and burial construction of NBTC, Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), and local power authorities in and around Bangkok, NBTC has sent letters to PEA and local power authorities, asking them to suspend the works recently to avoid those working from home being affected.
4. A large number of people will work from home, which means greater network flow caused by watching TV and drama series online. In this regard, NBTC has asked all internet service providers to make full preparations to increase capacity and meet people's demands. It also asked people to cooperate and refrain from downloading while working from home, to ensure speed and quality of network services.
"NBTC and all broadband Internet service providers and mobile internet service providers (mobile phone network service providers) have prepared to follow the WFH policy, to reduce risks amid the COVID-19 outbreak," said the secretary general.
