InfoQuest (March 18, 2020) -- Mr. Somdet Susomboon, director-general of the International Trade Promotion Department (DITP), revealed that DITP has adjusted its work strategy according to COVID-19 situations, and will use online system "Facebook live" to launch real-time training and seminars; it has adjusted its plan to host digital content industry online trade shows and business negotiations in May on a trial basis; TAPA 2020 and THAIFEX-Anuga Asia will be postponed to September; telephone conference rooms will be upgraded to accommodate more business negotiations.
More training programs and seminars will be launched online, and Facebook Live will be used to offer live streaming via various channels of DITP, such as the webpage of New Economy Academy. Currently desirable results have been made. Webinar has been used to launch activities; Live Chat system is also used to receive and answer questions of attendees in a real-time manner. The offices of Thailand International Trade Promotion Office in other countries are also offering information via online channels.
According to the director-general, DITP has also remodeled its work plans, such as hosting Thailand trade fair overseas, participating international trade fairs, leading trade delegation to visit other countries and establish cooperation network, and organizing promotion activities; according to adjusted plans, trade expos will be launched online, which is a new way to boost export and an alternative to face-to-face communication.
DITP will launch pilot programs to showcase the potential of digital content industry, such as film /animation/digital content; and launch Multimedia Online Virtual Exhibition (MOVE), which means to establish a website to showcase Thailand's digital content industry and facilitate online business negotiation between Thai enterprises and foreign enterprises, much like offline ones. The activity will be hosted in May 2020 and last for three days. From May to August of 2020, the approach will be applied to products of other categories.
TAPA 2020 has been postponed to September 3-6, 2020 and will be hosted in BITEC Bangna. THAIFEX-Anuga Asia has been postponed to September 22-26, 2020 and will be hosted in IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.
Business matching will also be launched online via VDO conference. DITP has launched a business matchmaking activity on March 4, 2020 in Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao for fresh and processed fruits industry, with desirable results. Telephone conference rooms will be upgraded to accommodate product and market-themed business negotiations.
For manufacturers, exporters, operators and the public who want to access the latest trade information at DITP's website (www.ditp.go.th), DITP has produced a banner "the center of trade information amid COVID-19"; the banner gathers real-time trade information provided by Thailand International Trade Promotion Offices worldwide; relevant personnel can learn the latest developments timely to make adjustments and find trade opportunities.
