BEIJING, March. 11 (Xinhua) -- China's top customs authority on Tuesday rolled out more practical measures to further reduce customs clearance costs, so as to promote work resumption and stabilize foreign trade amid the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, reported Economic Information Daily on Wednesday.
According to new measures released by the General Administration of Customs (GAC), for imported goods that have failed in-time customs declaration due to the epidemic, firms can apply to local customs for deduction or exemption of delayed payment according to relevant laws.
Besides, import firms unable to pay taxes on schedule due to the epidemic can apply in writing to local customs for tax deferral and provide tax payment plans that can have a duration of up to three months.
Local customs should reduce or exempt fine for delayed tax payment for firms abiding by the tax payment plans approved by the customs, said GAC.
GAC also vows to further simplify customs clearance procedures, reduce import and export documents, promote the application of the "single window" system, and cut port fees and inspection and quarantine fees to ensure stable foreign trade growth. (Edited by Gu Shanshan, gushanshan.1987@163.com)
