QINGDAO, March 10 (Xinhua) -- The Tsingtao Brewery Co., Ltd., one of China's largest breweries, began to set up smart manufacturing lines Tuesday to expand its capacity by 60,000 kiloliters per year by the end of 2020.
Ranging from filling, labeling, packaging, wine inspection to the unmanned delivery of materials and intelligent warehouse management, the new facilities are expected to be completed by June, said Meng Qingshang, head of the beer factory in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province.
Production efficiency will be improved by more than 15 percent, and consumers' personalized needs will be satisfied with digital solutions, said Zhao Weicheng, head of the engineering department.
The Tsingtao Brewery also launched two other projects Tuesday which include a smart industry demonstration zone and a tourist destination that includes craft beer tasting, accommodation, catering and entertainment facilities.
The total investment of the three projects that opened Tuesday will reach 1 billion yuan (144 million U.S. dollars), according to the company.
