BEIJING, March 3 (Xinhua) -- China's shipments of printers, mainly including inkjets, laser printers, dot matrix printers, etc, are expected to decline about 21.1 percent year on year in the first quarter of this year and 8.3 percent in 2020, an industrial report showed on Monday.
The purchase of printers for commercial use fell sharply in the first quarter due to the limited offline delivery methods and insufficient delivery capacity in the wake of the coronavirus epidemic, according to a report from global market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC).
Although the consumer market embraced robust demand during the January- March period, it still faced a threat of delivery difficulties, IDC said.
Besides, the slow resumption of work at factories and the adverse effect of the epidemic may hamper the supply of printers in the second quarter of 2020, according to IDC.
However, in the medium- and long-term, this crisis will also create new opportunities for Chinese printer market.
The country saw the purchase of home printing equipment balloon because of the epidemic outbreak.
Moreover, there is an opportunity for growth in contractual printing business amid the epidemic.
