BEIJING, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Alipay, the world's leading payment platform, has launched its AlipayHK e-wallet service in Macao, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News reported on Thursday.
According to the report, AlipayHK has become the third cross-border e-wallet available for Macao residents, following the Chinese mainland version of Alipay and e-wallet Kakao Pay launched by the Republic of Korea.
It is learned that AlipayHK has been supported at more than 10,000 bricks-and-mortar stores across Macao, which indicated over 2 million Hong Kong's AlipayHK users could use the mobile payment service in Macao.
Previously, AlipayHK has allowed Hong Kong visitors to the Chinese mainland to pay without the need to exchange currency or create bank accounts and provided tourists with convenient electronic payment and consumption experiences in Japan by simply scanning QR code when making an offline purchase.
