WARSAW, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- A charity concert was held here on Thursday to show solidarity with and support for Chinese people in their fight against COVID-19 epidemic.
Called "Solidarity with Wuhan", the concert, took place at the National Filharmonic in Warsaw and lasted for 2.5 hours. It featured performances by a mix of Polish pop and classical artists, including Polish-Ukrainian violinist Vadim Brodski, and also some Chinese artists living in Poland.
"We got the idea after we saw how measured the Chinese response was to the epidemic," said Marek Traczyk, the chairman of the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce, the organizer of the event. "Please remember that we are talking about a tremendous concentration of people, and the Chinese authorities are managing the issue without any panic and are successfully promoting the need for basic hygiene."
Traczyk added:" We live in a world where people are extremely mobile, and no single country can contain such an epidemic by itself."
Attending the event, Chinese Ambassador to Poland Liu Guangyuan said the Polish government and people have offered China strong support both in morality and action during its battle against the epidemic.
"Today's concert demonstrates again the profound friendship between the peoples of the two countries," he said.
