BEIJING, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- East China's Zhejiang province will speed up the development of new business models, cultivate digital economy, and accelerate the research and industrialization of life science, aiming to win the battle against the novel coronavirus and ensure smooth economic development, according to a document released by the provincial government on Monday.
The province will give full play to the role of platform enterprises such as Alibaba and Netease, support commercial companies to increase online sales and develop contactless delivery mode, while promoting the e-commerce and cold chain distribution of agricultural products, said the document.
In the field of digital economy, Zhejiang will develop new business formats such as online diagnosis and treatment, online office, online education, digital entertainment, and digital life. It will take advantage of government industrial funds to support industries including robots, big data, and artificial intelligence, and raise the upper limit of innovation subsidies granted to enterprises to 500,000 yuan in 2020. Meanwhile, the province will support telecommunication operators and cloud platform companies to provide free cloud-based office service and network speed improvement service for users amid the epidemic outbreak.
In life science area, Zhejiang will enhance research and development (R&D) of original drugs, medical supplies, medical devices, precise diagnosis and treatment, and rapid detection, provide administrative and financial support for provincial R&D projects concerning epidemic prevention and emergency response, and support Hangzhou Qiantang New Area, Shaoxing Binhai New Area to build new biomedicine industry platforms at 100 billion yuan level. The province will also accelerate advancement of projects in relevance to the diagnosis and treatment of intractable diseases as well as the development of traditional Chinese medicine, and build a medical emergency system covering the whole province.
