BEIJING, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- "Thanks to the government's support, our company has become one of the first enterprises to resume production," the general manager of a listed financial company in Shanghai said on social media on February 8.
According to a previous notice from the Shanghai municipal government, enterprises of all industries in the city will resume work no earlier than February 10.
Chen Da, an offiical with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), said on February 9 that all 30 provinces have arranged enterprises to resume production except Hubei.
The State Council, or China's cabinet, has issued a circular Saturday urging efforts to ensure orderly resumption of production of companies amid the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) epidemic.
"Apart from the worst-affected areas, over 80 percent of listed companies are expected to resume work this week," said Liu Zhe, vice president of WANB Institute, a Beijing-based economic think tank, noting that affected by the virus outbreak, the production and operation of the small- and medium-sized enterprises and private enterprises face short-term liquidity difficulties and operating pressure.
Policies issued by local governments mainly provide support in funding, staff stability and reducing burdens, which are timely and important to help enterprise tide over the difficulties, Liu added.
It’s learned that in order to ensure epidemic control, some medical, environmental protection, infrastructure and logistics listed companies have returned to work during the Spring Festival ahead of schedule and have worked overtime to deliver urgently needed supplies.
Huarin pharmaceutical (300110.SZ) said on February 8 that after the NPC outbreak, the company had organized the delivery of several batches of drug supplies to the affected areas in Hubei during the Spring Festival, and resumed production on February 3 to ensure the supply.
Inspur Group said that it has resumed production on February 2, mainly to produce information products such as servers to dispatch for epidemic control.
After the resumption of work, listed companies may still face three problems, Huahuang Securities chief macro analyst Zhang Yu said, noting that the first is transportation of raw materials and components; the second is personnel, as some workers return from certain areas may be put in quarantine; the third is protective goods such as masks, enterprises need to prepare.
"However, local governments are actively coordinating the deployment of masks to ensure that some key enterprises related to people's livelihood return to work," "Zhang said.
